Part of the empowerment of the poor is helping them get up on their feet again. The government realizes this through sustainable financial assistance and support programs that enable the poor and marginalized Filipinos to start anew with their lives.
For 2013, we increased government investments in social protection, where the government provides not just financial assistance but also opportunities to enhance livelihood skills in order for the beneficiaries to be able to stand on their own feet.
Education:
Close All Education Resource Gaps by 2013 to Support the K-12 Reform Program
Empowerment of the poor begins with quality education, and for 2013 funds for additional facilities and scholarship grants are set aside for the said purposes. Included are allocations for the creation of more teaching positions and implementation of the Universal Kindergarten Education program.
Healthcare:
Provide Health Care Insurance to Poor Households (Quintiles 1 & 2)
The government is dedicated in providing quality and universal health care programs for more Filipinos, keeping them healthy and better equipped to contribute to the country’s development.
Provide Decent Affordable Housing to Informal Settlers
A decent shelter is one of man’s basic needs, and the government is dedicated to provide the masses with quality and affordable housing programs so that every Filipino will have a roof over his head, allocating a total of P20.8 billion for various housing programs.
